Did you miss me!?

I'm SO sorry that I have been MIA for almost 2 weeks (or is it more than that...I guess I should have checked before I started this post!). Life has been crazy busy for the past couple weeks and I'm finally getting around to checking some stuff off the "to-do" list!

Wondering where I've been, are you? Well I was here for most of the time, just been super busy at the boutique (YAY YAY YAY), and then P and I ventured out to Vegas last week for the Magic show (no not magicians...clothing). We got to go and choose all the awesome stuff we're getting in for the Spring/Summer at the store. This was my FIRST trip out to Vegas...yes, I was a Vegas virgin! I was so excited to get out there a day early and spend some time exploring...well that didn't happen! We got to the Charleston airport at 4:20AM for our 5:30 flight...that got cancelled...AWESOME...but not really because then we were forced to miss our connection in Charlotte and there were no other flights on any airline to Vegas. The earliest we could have gotten there would have been Monday morning at 10am...not gonna work. So my brilliant husband had an amazing idea...we flew into LA and drove to Vegas! It was a 4 hour drive, very scenic, but holy cow...there is NOTHING out there! I did have my first taste of In-n-Out Burger...DELICIOUS!!!!! Next time I'm going animal style though!

We spent all day Monday and Tuesday at market getting some amazing new lines for the boutique, I can't wait to start getting them in!

Fast forward to Valentine's dinner on Tuesday...hands down THE BEST MEAL OF MY LIFE!!!!!! We were able to get reservations at CUT Steak House in the Pallazo Hotel. I can't even begin to describe how amazing the food was...there are no words to describe it! I was definitely that girl taking pictures of all the food though (I had to be able to share it with everyone!!)
Tuna tartare appetizer
Wagu/Kobe filet, Macaroni & Cheese and sauteed brussel sprouts with bacon and onions
(Yes mom...I ate brussel sprouts!!!!)
Lemon Tarte with blueberry compote
(forgot to take a picture before we started eating it!)

My stomach just started growling looking at this again...ha ha!!!
P and I joked around that this meal was a once in a lifetime experience...no really, it's going to be...otherwise we're going to have to take out a second mortgage..ha ha!!! It was worth every single penny though and if you ever have the chance to eat there, I HIGHLY recommend it!!!

Alright...I'm going to warm up my soup now and dream about that filet!!!

Red Red Red Red

So I'm sure that every single person that reads this blog knows that February is National Go Red Month and February 3rd is National Wear Red Day (American Heart Association is raising awareness for women and heart disease)!? Well if you didn't, now you do...glad I could enlighten your day (it won't happen too much so don't get used to it!).
I have a friend who works for the American Heart Association down here in Chucktown and she has gotten me (well the store) involved in their new campaign called "Paint the Town Red." We had heart disease survivors come into the store a couple months ago and ask if we wanted to participate. Being the AWESOME store that we are (he he he) we said "of course!"..."but wait, what do we have to do?"They explained that they would come back the beginning on February and paint their symbol on our window and that we should decorate our windows with a red theme. Ok, no problem! What they forgot to mention was that the local news was going to be judging all the participating retailers windows and pick a winner (that means it is now a competition!).
Now, I mentioned in a previous post that I am SO far from athletic that it's not even funny...YET I have this raging desire to WIN everything...so BRING ON THE COMPETITION retailers on King St!!!!! My mother-in-law and I were stumped with what to do since we didn't have any red clothes...whatever we did had to be original and we HAD to win!!!!
Enter a trip to Michaels, some red poster board, red tissue paper and ribbon with hearts and the idea is born! I took the two mannequins that we had up front and made skirts our of the poster board and scrunched up tissue paper and attached it all over the mannequins to create a "dress." It was a lot of trial and error, but I'm pretty freakin happy with the outcome!

My friend that works for The Heart Association came by and painted the little red dress on the window, so now we're official!

No joke...these have both been in the window for a little less than 2 hours and I've already had people comment on how awesome they are and even had people take pictures!!!!
Did I miss my calling in life!? Was I supposed to be a tissue paper dress designer!? My husband is looking for the next big thing...maybe I'm onto something!?

Stayed tuned for the results of the competition....
