Did you miss me!?

I'm SO sorry that I have been MIA for almost 2 weeks (or is it more than that...I guess I should have checked before I started this post!). Life has been crazy busy for the past couple weeks and I'm finally getting around to checking some stuff off the "to-do" list!

Wondering where I've been, are you? Well I was here for most of the time, just been super busy at the boutique (YAY YAY YAY), and then P and I ventured out to Vegas last week for the Magic show (no not magicians...clothing). We got to go and choose all the awesome stuff we're getting in for the Spring/Summer at the store. This was my FIRST trip out to Vegas...yes, I was a Vegas virgin! I was so excited to get out there a day early and spend some time exploring...well that didn't happen! We got to the Charleston airport at 4:20AM for our 5:30 flight...that got cancelled...AWESOME...but not really because then we were forced to miss our connection in Charlotte and there were no other flights on any airline to Vegas. The earliest we could have gotten there would have been Monday morning at 10am...not gonna work. So my brilliant husband had an amazing idea...we flew into LA and drove to Vegas! It was a 4 hour drive, very scenic, but holy cow...there is NOTHING out there! I did have my first taste of In-n-Out Burger...DELICIOUS!!!!! Next time I'm going animal style though!

We spent all day Monday and Tuesday at market getting some amazing new lines for the boutique, I can't wait to start getting them in!

Fast forward to Valentine's dinner on Tuesday...hands down THE BEST MEAL OF MY LIFE!!!!!! We were able to get reservations at CUT Steak House in the Pallazo Hotel. I can't even begin to describe how amazing the food was...there are no words to describe it! I was definitely that girl taking pictures of all the food though (I had to be able to share it with everyone!!)
Tuna tartare appetizer
Wagu/Kobe filet, Macaroni & Cheese and sauteed brussel sprouts with bacon and onions
(Yes mom...I ate brussel sprouts!!!!)
Lemon Tarte with blueberry compote
(forgot to take a picture before we started eating it!)

My stomach just started growling looking at this again...ha ha!!!
P and I joked around that this meal was a once in a lifetime experience...no really, it's going to be...otherwise we're going to have to take out a second mortgage..ha ha!!! It was worth every single penny though and if you ever have the chance to eat there, I HIGHLY recommend it!!!

Alright...I'm going to warm up my soup now and dream about that filet!!!

Red Red Red Red

So I'm sure that every single person that reads this blog knows that February is National Go Red Month and February 3rd is National Wear Red Day (American Heart Association is raising awareness for women and heart disease)!? Well if you didn't, now you do...glad I could enlighten your day (it won't happen too much so don't get used to it!).
I have a friend who works for the American Heart Association down here in Chucktown and she has gotten me (well the store) involved in their new campaign called "Paint the Town Red." We had heart disease survivors come into the store a couple months ago and ask if we wanted to participate. Being the AWESOME store that we are (he he he) we said "of course!"..."but wait, what do we have to do?"They explained that they would come back the beginning on February and paint their symbol on our window and that we should decorate our windows with a red theme. Ok, no problem! What they forgot to mention was that the local news was going to be judging all the participating retailers windows and pick a winner (that means it is now a competition!).
Now, I mentioned in a previous post that I am SO far from athletic that it's not even funny...YET I have this raging desire to WIN everything...so BRING ON THE COMPETITION retailers on King St!!!!! My mother-in-law and I were stumped with what to do since we didn't have any red clothes...whatever we did had to be original and we HAD to win!!!!
Enter a trip to Michaels, some red poster board, red tissue paper and ribbon with hearts and the idea is born! I took the two mannequins that we had up front and made skirts our of the poster board and scrunched up tissue paper and attached it all over the mannequins to create a "dress." It was a lot of trial and error, but I'm pretty freakin happy with the outcome!

My friend that works for The Heart Association came by and painted the little red dress on the window, so now we're official!

No joke...these have both been in the window for a little less than 2 hours and I've already had people comment on how awesome they are and even had people take pictures!!!!
Did I miss my calling in life!? Was I supposed to be a tissue paper dress designer!? My husband is looking for the next big thing...maybe I'm onto something!?

Stayed tuned for the results of the competition....

Yay for Girlfriends!

So I usually have my birthday celebration planned out for at least a month, but for some reason this year there is no big party...probably because I'm not in the mood for it??? Not sure really...maybe it's because of everything that's going on in my life...moving, STILL unpacking (the gnomes still haven't shown up!), opening the store...plus it's only my 31st birthday so no biggie (I feel like I need to start saving up for my 40th)...I did however  BLOW it out last year!!!
Let's just say I had a "few" Skinny Girl martinis at dinner, drank a bottle of Champagne on the party bus from downtown Charlotte to The Rusty Rudder in Cornelius (about a 30 minute ride for those who aren't familiar) and proceeded to pass out in my mother-in-laws car while my party was going in inside...oops! There is more to the story, but I'm thinking that it's not appropriate for my blog...not sure if little eyes are reading it!

So this year some of my besties from Charlotte are coming down to visit for the weekend and we're going to have a nice relaxing dinner at home, cooked by my wonderful husband (I wonder if he knows he's cooking!?) and some wine...sounds very grown up doesn't it!? HA HA....we have you fooled!!! What you don't know is that when Julie, Beth, Mallory, Wendy, P and I get together it's anything but grown up (I have some great pictures of a certain night in Charlotte, but someone (Beth) would get VERY upset with me if I posted them)!

We have had some great times together over the past few years and I can only imagine what their first trip down to Charleston to see us in our new home will bring!?

Stay tuned....

Brought to you by the letter P

P is for packing...I feel like it's all I've been doing the last 2 months...packing, unpacking, packing, unpacking...it's a vicious cycle that I wish would end NOW! If I snap my fingers and close my eyes do the magical gnomes appear and do it all!?

I spent last Thursday night unpacking 9 boxes in our garage (I won't allow boxes in our house, it stresses me out so they all live in the garage) and I felt SO good about it. I saw a part of our garage floor that I hadn't seen in 2 months! I was unpacking boxes that were from my parents basement with all the goodies from when I was growing up...it brought back so many memories of good times and not so good times! There were baby pictures with all my grandparents in them, pictures of when my sister was a baby (she's 24 now), pictures from Jr. High in upstate NY, pictures from High School in Charlotte, college pictures...some of them made me laugh SO hard and others brought a tear to my eye because I miss the people in them. I found a box of all of Pfunk and I's engagement cards...it was so fun reading all of them!

Speaking of Pfunk...all my hard work from Thursday night was negated yesterday when we went to his parents house and got all his boxes from their basement. He was like a little kid last night going through all his boxes! He found his special teddy that he slept with growing up (I should mention that Finley did try to take this and eat it, but thankfully was intercepted before anything happened! I can't say the same for my cabbage patch kid Bradley...half his face got eaten) and ALL his trophies from soccer and lacrosse. Let me just say that I AM NOT ATHLETIC and I have married a man that can start a sport tomorrow and be perfect at it! I joked around about having a "modern family" moment where we put our trophies on the mantel and compete to see who's is bigger (like Cam and Mitchell...please tell me you watch the show!?), but then I remembered...I DON'T HAVE ANY :(

In all seriousness...can someone please send a gnome over to finish all the boxes!?

Here goes nothin'

So I've been going back and forth about whether or not to do a blog...would anybody read it (my feelings will get hurt if I don't get any followers), do people care about what I do, will people make fun of my really bad spelling (thanks Dad) and grammar, the list could go on and on....but after a great meal last night (chinese buffet where the server spilled my husbands water all over his Iphone) I got the approval from my husband (we shall name him Pfunk) that he wold support me in this endeavor...so all systems ago...here goes nothin'...HAHA!
I'm not promising anything brilliant here, just me...scratch that, I'm pretty brilliant (seriously, brilliant...why did I use that word!?) anyways...there is no theme to this blog, it'll be the randomness that is my life!
I guess you probably want to know who "me" is...recently married (actually 8months today...happy anniversary Pfunk!), mother of two babies, the four legged kind. You will probably read lots of stories about them as they entertain me on a daily basis. Dakota is 4 and Finley is 1 and they are the loves of my life (don't forget about my hubby though!).
Finley ringing in the New Year with us

The day Kota's life changed...look how tiny Fin was...awwwwww

Pfunk and I moved down to Charleston SC in July and have loved every second of it...minus about 4 months where we were living in an AWFUL apartment while our house was being built. We are now in our house and LOVE it...our first big purchase  together...actually it's a pretty HUGE purchase, who am I kidding!? The house is a work in progress so the pictures of that will have to wait until it's perfect...sorry, I'm weird like that! My mother-in-law and I opened a women's clothing boutique on King St at the end of November and it's been SO much fun meeting all these new people...and did I mention women's CLOTHING boutique...and I work there...so I get AWESOME clothes!? Just wanted to check!
I don't want to tell you too much more because then you will probably never come back to visit my blog...so for now, that's me!
