I leave all the soccer up to my husband...after all it's one of the many reasons that I fell in love with him (that and his 4-Runner...ya'll this thing was PIMP!!!).
So life has been pretty hectic these past few weeks and it doesn't look like it's going to slow down anytime soon. It's May (holy crap!) which means that tourist season is right around the corner down here in good ole Charleston. I had some wonderful surprises this weekend though and it was great! I was at the store on Saturday just going about my business and looked up to say 'Hey' to a couple that had walked in and then went back to finishing up what I was doing, but had to do a quick double take...it was my friend Meig and her new husband from Charlotte! It was SO good to see them!! I found recently that there are a couple people that have come back into my life that I wish had never left. I was sitting there talking to Meig and remembering all the great times that we had together and wondering what happened and why did they have to stop!? Another one that has come back is Brandy, I honestly thought that we would never speak again and it's because of her new business venture that we did. I do honestly hope that we can move past everything that happened...because damn...we knew how to have a good time!!!
My second surprise of the weekend was after being at the beach for a couple hours on Sunday with some friends from the neighborhood, we decided to go to Red's at Bohicket Marina. I look around the corner and come face to face with Allie! We met a few years ago while I was in school to get my Masters in Elementary Education...she stuck it out and finished (Congrats!!!) and I made it through one semester (oops). She has a BLOG (click this) that she started right before I started this one...ya'll need to check it out if you're looking for some great recipes!!!
So I guess with that being said, I can start on my goals:
1) Be a great wife to my hubby
2) Keep in touch with my friends and family better (I miss ya'll terribly)
3) Continue to run a successful business
4) Run the Kiawah half marathon in December (Jules...I haven't forgotten)
5) Make time for me in between the chaos that is my life
6) Make our wedding album...yup it's almost been a year and we have ONE picture in our house from the wedding
7) Get the house completely decorated
8) Learn how to sew...this seems VERY daunting to me but I really do want to give it a shot!
9) Finish this dang 30 day challenge that I'm not into month 2 of trying to complete it
10) Continue to be ME :)

Day 12...duh!
Day 12...Something you never leave the house without...for anyone that knows me they know that I am ADDICTED to my iPhone! I have been known to turn around and head back to the house because I forgot my phone.
It's not just my phone that I'm addicted to, it's Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram...the list could go on of all the fun apps that I check constantly! P has actually challenged me to leave my phone at home for the day when I'm off from the store (am I ever really OFF though!?...answer would be no). I guess I could try not to check Facebook for a day...my heart just started beating really fast...I honestly don't think I could do it...so disgraceful :(
If I ever do feel up to the challenge, I will be sure to let ya'll know...I wouldn't hold your breath though!

Just can't get enough!
Day 11...very late...ha ha! Life has been throwing a lot of lemons recently and I've been busy making lemonade with them...freshly squeezed, no pulp!
I do have to share my latest lemon with you and then I will get onto the challenge.
I was pulling into the driveway on Thursday evening of last week. My husband was working out in the yard, so his car was pulled a little further back on the driveway than normal, and our brand new lawn mower was in a new spot in the garage so all my depth and perception of my normal parking spot was all messed up. According to P I "came in hot" and completely missed my mark and ended up getting Lilly (my 2011 4-Runner) STUCK on the side of the house :( One of our neighbors was there to witness the whole thing (I swear Brett, I'm not a bad driver!), so I think that helped P not get FUMING mad! I guess that I can laugh about it now, but probably not once we get the estimate back from the car repair place!
Now, back to the challenge...Day 11...Favorite TV shows:
I love the original Desperate Housewives of Orange County (I did watch NJ for a little while, but they have WAY too much drama for me!)
P and I really enjoy any food competition show (Top Chef is by far our favorite)
I have watched every single episode of Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice
If I don't have anything DVR'd to watch I will always put on HGTV, I love all of their shows!
Modern Family is amazing!!!!!!
Call us old farts, but we really enjoy 60 minutes on Sunday evening and I will always have on The Today Show while I get ready in the morning.
I feel like I'm forgetting something, but since I can't come up with anymore, that means that it must not be my favorite!
Hope ya'll have had a good Monday so far!!

Me scared!?
Today I'm supposed to write about what I'm afraid of. There are quite a few things that I'm not a huge fan of (insects in particular) but I'm not afraid of them....if I was forced to deal with them I would, but luckily I am surrounded by people who will come to my rescue!
A lot of people are scared of death, but I'm not going to put that as my fear. I believe that I will get to come back to earth in some form or another..or at least I hope so! I'm no where near ready to go anywhere, but I will be at peace with it when the time comes. Sorry to be depressing!
The one thing that I'm afraid of is disappointing people. I definitely do not live to please everyone, but the people that I love are the ones that I'm afraid of disappointing. Just thinking about one of them looking at me and saying those words to me makes me tear up. I'm sure that they don't hold me to the high standards that I hold myself to, but to know that you have caused someone so much pain that they would be disappointed in you...sad face :(
I know that might be a really weird fear to some people and I don't feel like I can fully express in words why it is a fear of mine, but hopefully you can understand a little bit!
On a brighter note...I've decided to run the Kiawah half marathon in December. I'm actually going to try to run the whole 13.1 miles! I figured if I put it in my blog, then I'm going to be held accountable about letting ya'll know how the training is going! It's a ways away, but I'm actually going to start training now. I'm starting from the VERY beginning...I'm going to start by running half a mile...ha ha!!! Teeny Tiny baby steps here people! I completed a full marathon two years ago, but I didn't do it correctly and I want to do it right this time! I want to enjoy myself and not hate every second of it!
Going to strap on the running shoes (I should probably think about buying a new pair!)

What are friends for!?
I feel like I start all my blogs out by apologizing...so why should I make this one any different!? Seriously though....this 30 day challenge is tough...I think I'm on track to finish it in 60 days...ha ha!!! I will get through all of it event if it takes me 6 months!
Day 9 is a picture of you and your best friend. I feel extremely fortunate because I have 4 best friends that have seen me at my best and at my worst, they know my deepest darkest secrets and know me better than I know myself. A lot of people consider the person they've known the longest as their best friend, but it's different for me. I moved around so much growing up that I don't have a best friend that I've known for forever.

Julie and I HATED each other when we fist met at Paychex in NY. I was the annoying southern girl with the horrible accent! My how the times have changed...Jules is now in NC!!!
Natty oh Natty! It is because of him that I found my husband (again)!. We all went to high school together and they played sports together. When I moved back to NC, Natty took me to a party and P was there...the rest is history!
I don't talk to Natty nearly enough, but I know that he would do anything for P or I in a heart beat and we would do the same for him! He's my Sporky!!!
No words to describe the amount of love I have for this man! He is my heart and soul and I would be lost without him. xoxoxox
I wasn't a huge fan of Stacie when I first met her, I thought she was a stuck up sorority girl...but clearly that all changed! She is the older sister than I never had and I know that she will always be there for me with words of wisdom and to help guide me in the right direction!
I don't know if I would have made it through my senior year of college without her! She honestly saved me from a really horrible situation!
Every lady in this picture stood up next to me on my wedding day because they all hold a very special place in my heart. I love every one of them and wish that we could all escape reality for a couple weeks and party!!!!

Where art thou - Day 8
Somewhere where I have traveled...I'm very fortunate that my parents started traveling with me at a very young age and I have never really stopped. I was born in Toronto and also lived in England for a few years. While we were in England we traveled a lot, just because it was so easy! We visited France a couple different times and also went to Spain. We never had a chance to go to Italy, but that is something that P and I plan on doing!
My most recent trip outside of the States was on out Honeymoon last year. We went to Playa del Carmen in Mexico, it was amazing! Everyone was all excited to hear about our trip and all the fun things we did but all we did was eat, sleep and drink! We did take one night (P's birthday) away from the resort and went to stay in Tulum (it was highly recommend from my friend Beth). There was no electricity and it was a gorgeous little hut on the side of a cliff! It was very rustic and I would not have been able to do more than a couple days there, but it is definitely something you should experience if you ever go there!
Here are a few snaps from our trip

Day 7...Which Movie to Watch!?
OK, so by now you realize that I'm not very good at blogging every day....but hey, I'M STILL HERE!!! It's been a busy week for us at the J household! We have been planning our one year anniversary trip to Europe for a couple months now. The original dates that we booked the trip aren't going to work so we called to switch the dates to a couple weeks later and it was going to cost $1700!!!! SAY WHAT!? We were heart broken :( We talked about it and decided that we will save Europe for when we have kiddies and they can appreciate it (or we go when they are under 2 so they fly for free!!)...TBD...in the future TBD, no time soon!
So we racked our brains for what we could do, we've already done the beach thing twice so didn't want to do that again, I really wanted to go somewhere that I could use my new passport (it's the little things in life people), but then we had a brain wave...let's go to California!!!! So ladies and gentleman, we switched our flights last night and we are now going to San Francisco and Sonoma!!! We cut our trip down from 14 days to 9 given our jobs and we couldn't stand to be away from our puppies for that long! (plus I don't think we could find someone to watch our hellions for 2 whole weeks..ha ha!) We're going to try to find a rental place in San Fran and Sonoma so we don't have to stay at a hotel. Any suggestions for fun things to do while we're there!? Stay tuned for all the details as we try to figure them out!
Now...onto the challenge (sorry I got sidetracked but I HAD to share our fun news!)...Day 7 is your Favorite Movies...my husband is probably shocked that I even know what movies are...you see he thinks (as well as some other people in my life) that I have not seen any "good" movies...I beg to differ! He made me watch A Princess Bride...HOLY HORRIBLE...never again! Some of my favorites are (ranked in no particular order):
1) Pretty Woman
2) Toy Story
3) ELF
4) Marley and Me (I'm a sucker for this movie!)
5) Clueless (it's where I got my live for asparagus...ha ha)
6) Office Space
7) Dirty Dancing (nobody put baby in the corner)
I'm sure I could add to this list but I've only had one cup of coffee this morning and I'm running a little slow!
Until Day 8...which will hopefully be tomorrow!!!
Oh yeah...HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!!!!!

Day 5...kind of
Ok, so apparently I'm not great at blogging everyday...sorry!
Yesterday kind of got away from me...we were busy at the store and by the time we got home and walked the puppies and ate dinner I was ready to crash (at 8pm mind you....what is wrong with me!?)
I'm only a day behind, so it won't be that hard to catch back up! Day 5 is a song to match the mood that I'm in...ummmm.....I'll have to go with a song that always gets me in the mood to do anything as I'm feeling like I need a little pick me up right now...
CYNDI LAUPER - GIRLS JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN (I wish there was a way that I could stream it for you as you're reading this!) A You Tube video will just have to do
Yuppers...I'm an 80's child and proud of it, anytime an 80's song comes on this girl just starts moving in ways that don't look normal...ha ha!
Happy Monday!

Day 4...I'm catching up!
Two posts in one day...are you feeling lucky!?
I promised I would catch up to day 4 today, so here I am...catching up!
Day 4...your parents...where to start!? How about the beginning...the day they became my parents...the best day in the entire world was the day that I was born...DUH!!! Just kidding :)
My parents, they shall be named A and J are amazing...I know, everyone says that about their parents, but mine really are! I don't think ya'll understand the torture that I put them through...I won't even try to sit here and list it out, it would take way too long...BUT, if I didn't experience the things I did I wouldn't be the person that I am today...so thanks mom and dad for teaching me right from wrong and how to be a lady!
I hope that when P and I have children that I can be half the mom that my mom was to me and I really do pray for a girl (just one though....and hopefully she won't torture us) so that P can have the relationship with her that I do with my dad! I will always remember the dance with my dad on my wedding day...we were making each other laugh the entire time otherwise we would have just been swaying back and forth and crying!
I know that it says that Day 4 is about your parents, but I have to give my little sister a shout out as well! We haven't always gotten along, but just recently we have been and it's been great! She has an amazing heart and is willing to do almost anything for anyone...I just wish that she would expect the same in return from people, she deserves it!
I know that I also owe ya'll a recent picture of me, so this one will have to count (even though it's from 10 months ago...oops).

Oops...day 2 and 3 in one
I feel like I have already failed you...sorry! Hopefully an early Saturday morning blog will make you forgive me! I've actually been up since 6:30, fed the dogs, made coffee, eggs and painted my nails! Nails on a Saturday morning before 9 you may ask...we have visitors this weekend that includes two young girls and they wanted to paint their nails, ands my toes were long overdue!
Anyways...onto day 2...the meaning behind your blog name...it's easy...it's my new last name! When P and I got married we moved away from most of our family and friends, so I thought that a blog would be the easiest way for everyone to keep up with us...hence Keepin Up With The Johnstons! And to clarify, this has NOTHING to do with the big butt family, we are NOT trying to keep up with them!
Day 3....your first love...this is a tricky one because as a female you feel like you've been in love so many times in your life. I think that the word love is thrown around a lot without really understanding the meaning of it. I mean in 6th grade you are so in love with your boyfriend, but is it really love!? I've been in relationships that I thought were love, but looking back at the love that I feel for my husband now...I can't believe that I thought I was in love then! I also believe that it's a reciprocal thing too, when you love someone so much and they love you back, unconditionally, it's the most amazing thing in the world! I hope that everyone that reads this has already or will at some point in their lives feel the love that I do in my life right now!
I think I'm supposed to post a picture of myself too, I forgot to do it on day 1 (I'm so bad at this!) I will post a picture when I post later today for day 4 about my parents! I need to do it from my computer that has all our pictures on it (I'm still trying to learn how to do this on our iPad).
I hope y'all enjoy your Saturday morning, I will be back later to tell you all about my parents!

Day 1 with one hour to go!
Ha ha...you thought that you would have me beat on day one...WRONG! I may or may not have a couple drinks in me right now, BUT I am here on Day 1 and ready to take on the challenge...what is it!?
Day 1: Introduce, recent picture of yourself, 15 interesting facts
OK...Hi, I'm Sarah...I'm in my early 30's...who's kidding...I just turned 31 and I'm proud of it! I started using anti-aging cream last year and I'm proud of it...speaking of, I'm running out and need to reorder STAT! ha ha
I married the man of my dreams last May in a ceremony that my family was not all too happy about it, until it was over and they realized that it was everything that I had ever imagined and was PERFECT for me and P!
We have 2 dogs who are our babies...pretty sure ya'll have already met them in a previous post, Kota and Fin...my puppies :)
I think I might have introduced myself in my very first blog, so if I'm missing any details, you can go and scope that one out...in the mean time...15 interesting facts...
1) I'm Canadian...well technically I guess I'm American now, but I was born in Toronto and lived there until I was 9
2) When I was 9 we moved to England and we lived there until I was 12, then moved to upstate NY...I won't make that an interesting fact because it's not interesting
3) I was the first on my mom's side of the family to graduate from college...NNNNN CCCCC STATE...WOLFPACK in da house!!!!! (I know, we suck...just give me my moment)
4) As much as you all want to believe...I was not in a sorority in college
5) I'm OCD...kind of...my husband, P, would argue that it's bad, I think it's minor...I get it from my dad
6) I'm a daddy's girl...and I'm ok with it
7) I'm a natural blonde...just ask my friends...they can attest to it...I have WAY too many moments
8) I can't say that I'm 100% happy with the decisions that I've made in my life, but I also know that I would not be where I am today if it wasn't for the decisions I made...so that being said, I wouldn't change a thing about it!
9) I seriously feel SO blessed with the life that I have been given, I married a man who is the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me, we are blessed that our families get along so well, I have been given an amazing opportunity with our store and I can not wait to see what the future holds for us!
10) P and I are heading to Europe for our first wedding anniversary this May/June and I'm so excited to show him where my family is from!
11) P and I may or may not treat our dogs like our babies...don't judge!
12) I have a serious phobia of bugs...OF ANY KIND
13) I have an addiction to BAD reality TV...I try to limit it, but it's hard
14) I haven't missed a single episode of Grey's Anatomy...EVER
15) I have some of the BEST friends in the world...no matter how far away they live from me or how often we talk, I know that I can pick up the phone and call them and it's like no time has passed. Living away from them is hard, but I know that they would do anything for me and I think about them ALL the time!

Did you miss me!?
I'm SO sorry that I have been MIA for almost 2 weeks (or is it more than that...I guess I should have checked before I started this post!). Life has been crazy busy for the past couple weeks and I'm finally getting around to checking some stuff off the "to-do" list!
Wondering where I've been, are you? Well I was here for most of the time, just been super busy at the boutique (YAY YAY YAY), and then P and I ventured out to Vegas last week for the Magic show (no not magicians...clothing). We got to go and choose all the awesome stuff we're getting in for the Spring/Summer at the store. This was my FIRST trip out to Vegas...yes, I was a Vegas virgin! I was so excited to get out there a day early and spend some time exploring...well that didn't happen! We got to the Charleston airport at 4:20AM for our 5:30 flight...that got cancelled...AWESOME...but not really because then we were forced to miss our connection in Charlotte and there were no other flights on any airline to Vegas. The earliest we could have gotten there would have been Monday morning at 10am...not gonna work. So my brilliant husband had an amazing idea...we flew into LA and drove to Vegas! It was a 4 hour drive, very scenic, but holy cow...there is NOTHING out there! I did have my first taste of In-n-Out Burger...DELICIOUS!!!!! Next time I'm going animal style though!
We spent all day Monday and Tuesday at market getting some amazing new lines for the boutique, I can't wait to start getting them in!
Fast forward to Valentine's dinner on Tuesday...hands down THE BEST MEAL OF MY LIFE!!!!!! We were able to get reservations at CUT Steak House in the Pallazo Hotel. I can't even begin to describe how amazing the food was...there are no words to describe it! I was definitely that girl taking pictures of all the food though (I had to be able to share it with everyone!!)

Tuna tartare appetizer
Wagu/Kobe filet, Macaroni & Cheese and sauteed brussel sprouts with bacon and onions
(Yes mom...I ate brussel sprouts!!!!)
Lemon Tarte with blueberry compote
(forgot to take a picture before we started eating it!)
My stomach just started growling looking at this again...ha ha!!!
P and I joked around that this meal was a once in a lifetime experience...no really, it's going to be...otherwise we're going to have to take out a second mortgage..ha ha!!! It was worth every single penny though and if you ever have the chance to eat there, I HIGHLY recommend it!!!
Alright...I'm going to warm up my soup now and dream about that filet!!!

Red Red Red Red
So I'm sure that every single person that reads this blog knows that February is National Go Red Month and February 3rd is National Wear Red Day (American Heart Association is raising awareness for women and heart disease)!? Well if you didn't, now you do...glad I could enlighten your day (it won't happen too much so don't get used to it!).
I have a friend who works for the American Heart Association down here in Chucktown and she has gotten me (well the store) involved in their new campaign called "Paint the Town Red." We had heart disease survivors come into the store a couple months ago and ask if we wanted to participate. Being the AWESOME store that we are (he he he) we said "of course!"..."but wait, what do we have to do?"They explained that they would come back the beginning on February and paint their symbol on our window and that we should decorate our windows with a red theme. Ok, no problem! What they forgot to mention was that the local news was going to be judging all the participating retailers windows and pick a winner (that means it is now a competition!).
Now, I mentioned in a previous post that I am SO far from athletic that it's not even funny...YET I have this raging desire to WIN everything...so BRING ON THE COMPETITION retailers on King St!!!!! My mother-in-law and I were stumped with what to do since we didn't have any red clothes...whatever we did had to be original and we HAD to win!!!!
Enter a trip to Michaels, some red poster board, red tissue paper and ribbon with hearts and the idea is born! I took the two mannequins that we had up front and made skirts our of the poster board and scrunched up tissue paper and attached it all over the mannequins to create a "dress." It was a lot of trial and error, but I'm pretty freakin happy with the outcome!

My friend that works for The Heart Association came by and painted the little red dress on the window, so now we're official!
No joke...these have both been in the window for a little less than 2 hours and I've already had people comment on how awesome they are and even had people take pictures!!!!
Did I miss my calling in life!? Was I supposed to be a tissue paper dress designer!? My husband is looking for the next big thing...maybe I'm onto something!?
Stayed tuned for the results of the competition....

Yay for Girlfriends!
So I usually have my birthday celebration planned out for at least a month, but for some reason this year there is no big party...probably because I'm not in the mood for it??? Not sure really...maybe it's because of everything that's going on in my life...moving, STILL unpacking (the gnomes still haven't shown up!), opening the store...plus it's only my 31st birthday so no biggie (I feel like I need to start saving up for my 40th)...I did however BLOW it out last year!!!
Let's just say I had a "few" Skinny Girl martinis at dinner, drank a bottle of Champagne on the party bus from downtown Charlotte to The Rusty Rudder in Cornelius (about a 30 minute ride for those who aren't familiar) and proceeded to pass out in my mother-in-laws car while my party was going in inside...oops! There is more to the story, but I'm thinking that it's not appropriate for my blog...not sure if little eyes are reading it!

So this year some of my besties from Charlotte are coming down to visit for the weekend and we're going to have a nice relaxing dinner at home, cooked by my wonderful husband (I wonder if he knows he's cooking!?) and some wine...sounds very grown up doesn't it!? HA HA....we have you fooled!!! What you don't know is that when Julie, Beth, Mallory, Wendy, P and I get together it's anything but grown up (I have some great pictures of a certain night in Charlotte, but someone (Beth) would get VERY upset with me if I posted them)!
We have had some great times together over the past few years and I can only imagine what their first trip down to Charleston to see us in our new home will bring!?
Stay tuned....

Brought to you by the letter P
P is for packing...I feel like it's all I've been doing the last 2 months...packing, unpacking, packing, unpacking...it's a vicious cycle that I wish would end NOW! If I snap my fingers and close my eyes do the magical gnomes appear and do it all!?
I spent last Thursday night unpacking 9 boxes in our garage (I won't allow boxes in our house, it stresses me out so they all live in the garage) and I felt SO good about it. I saw a part of our garage floor that I hadn't seen in 2 months! I was unpacking boxes that were from my parents basement with all the goodies from when I was growing up...it brought back so many memories of good times and not so good times! There were baby pictures with all my grandparents in them, pictures of when my sister was a baby (she's 24 now), pictures from Jr. High in upstate NY, pictures from High School in Charlotte, college pictures...some of them made me laugh SO hard and others brought a tear to my eye because I miss the people in them. I found a box of all of Pfunk and I's engagement cards...it was so fun reading all of them!
Speaking of Pfunk...all my hard work from Thursday night was negated yesterday when we went to his parents house and got all his boxes from their basement. He was like a little kid last night going through all his boxes! He found his special teddy that he slept with growing up (I should mention that Finley did try to take this and eat it, but thankfully was intercepted before anything happened! I can't say the same for my cabbage patch kid Bradley...half his face got eaten) and ALL his trophies from soccer and lacrosse. Let me just say that I AM NOT ATHLETIC and I have married a man that can start a sport tomorrow and be perfect at it! I joked around about having a "modern family" moment where we put our trophies on the mantel and compete to see who's is bigger (like Cam and Mitchell...please tell me you watch the show!?), but then I remembered...I DON'T HAVE ANY :(
In all seriousness...can someone please send a gnome over to finish all the boxes!?

Here goes nothin'
So I've been going back and forth about whether or not to do a blog...would anybody read it (my feelings will get hurt if I don't get any followers), do people care about what I do, will people make fun of my really bad spelling (thanks Dad) and grammar, the list could go on and on....but after a great meal last night (chinese buffet where the server spilled my husbands water all over his Iphone) I got the approval from my husband (we shall name him Pfunk) that he wold support me in this endeavor...so all systems ago...here goes nothin'...HAHA!
I'm not promising anything brilliant here, just me...scratch that, I'm pretty brilliant (seriously, brilliant...why did I use that word!?) anyways...there is no theme to this blog, it'll be the randomness that is my life!
I guess you probably want to know who "me" is...recently married (actually 8months today...happy anniversary Pfunk!), mother of two babies, the four legged kind. You will probably read lots of stories about them as they entertain me on a daily basis. Dakota is 4 and Finley is 1 and they are the loves of my life (don't forget about my hubby though!).
Pfunk and I moved down to Charleston SC in July and have loved every second of it...minus about 4 months where we were living in an AWFUL apartment while our house was being built. We are now in our house and LOVE it...our first big purchase together...actually it's a pretty HUGE purchase, who am I kidding!? The house is a work in progress so the pictures of that will have to wait until it's perfect...sorry, I'm weird like that! My mother-in-law and I opened a women's clothing boutique on King St at the end of November and it's been SO much fun meeting all these new people...and did I mention women's CLOTHING boutique...and I work there...so I get AWESOME clothes!? Just wanted to check!
I don't want to tell you too much more because then you will probably never come back to visit my blog...so for now, that's me!
